Deep Water Peacock Fishing in Naples on the Golden Gate Canal

Deep Water Peacock Fishing

Deep Water Peacock Fishing

Cold fronts have plagued South Florida this season and winter months. One thing that it did not stop was the peacock bass from biting. Even though the fronts had an effect on the fishery, you just have to approach it with a different technique. When these occur, enjoy deep water peacock fishing.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Brad and Joe, a father son duo taking on Naples, Florida. Peacock bass was something they wanted to explore on the Golden Gate Canal. We made it happen and caught several quality bass.

Water temperature changes made the peacock bass move to deeper water. We had to grind to catch them. Slowing our presentation down and fishing the deeper water allowed and produced a bite.

Brad and Joe had some great action with doubles at times throughout their trip. They caught 15 peacock bass weighing up to 3 pounds. All factors considered this was an exceptional fishing trip. Domestic shiners were the most effective bait to catch them.

I am looking forward to fishing with Brad and Joe again on their next Florida Fishing adventure. Don’t miss out on your adventure next time!
